Last year the MEDfor Winter School turned 5 years old: the first Winter School took place in the 2012/2013 academic year. In recognition of the effort and work carried out during these years, the consortium was renewed for another three-year period, up to the year 2020/2021. During their stay students will acquire skills on forest modelling and biological treatments of pests and forest diseases, and will put them into practice during some field trips. In addition, they will participate in the 12th International Congress of Young Researchers (Young Forest Meeting) organised by Sustainable Management Forest Research Institute in Valsaín on January 31 and February 1.

The ultimate goal of the programme is that members are able to apply the knowledge acquired during the Winter School MEDfor in their countries of origin. In addition, they gain another perspective of management in other parts of the world thanks to the academic and intercultural relations that take place during these weeks of coexistence.
