High-level policy makers discuss information-sharing forum

Dr. Marc Palahí, Assistant Director of Policy Advice, briefed high-level policy makers on EFI’s plans for a “Think Tank” for Future Forests in Europe at a two-day event, European and Global Forests – Which Way for the Future? at the European Parliament on 7 September. His presentation, “Think Tank” for Future Forests in Europe: a high-level forum for science-policy discussions, was part of a round-table discussion on the role research, knowledge-base and information-sharing can play in the sustainable use of forests.

The leading European forest research network meets in Uppsala

The event will be opened by the Vice-chancellor of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Lisa Sennerby Forsse. During these days over 130 leading European forest scientists and experts gather to discuss the role of forests in Europe in the future from different points of view.

EFIMED staff news

Following the establishment of a new Policy Advice Office in Barcelona, Mercedes Rois Díaz has been appointed as Office Manager (Policy Advice Office & EFIMED) starting on 1 September 2011. Mercedes has worked for EFIMED since its establishment. In this new post, she is responsible for the administrative activities that facilitate the smooth running of the Policy Advice Office.
At the same time, Robert Mavsar has been promoted to be Deputy Head of EFIMED, to support the Head of Office on EFIMED management. Robert has management responsibilities within EFIMED, while the Head has responsibility for the strategic leadership of the Office.
